Aaliyah and Tank’s ‘Gone’ Reaches No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay Chart

Nearly 24 years after her tragic death, Aaliyah is still topping the charts. The R&B icon’s posthumous single “Gone,” featuring Tank, advances to the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart this week.

It marks Aaliyah’s first-ever No. 1 on the Adult R&B Airplay chart and her highest reach since 1994’s “At Your Best (You Are Love),” which peaked at No. 4.

Here is an overview of Aaliyah’s top 10 hits on the Adult R&B Airplay chart, ranked by peak:

  • “Gone” featuring Tank, No. 1 for one week so far (2025)
  • “At Your Best (You Are Love),” No. 4 peak (1994)
  • “Back & Forth,” No. 6 peak (1994)
  • “I Care 4 U,” No. 8 peak (2002)

As for Tank, “Gone” is the R&B General’s tenth No. 1 on the Adult R&B Airplay and his first since 2024’s “Before We Get Started,” featuring Fabolous, which commanded the chart for two weeks.

“Gone” was released worldwide on Aug. 1 via Blackground Records 2.0. It was produced by Sean Garrett and Azul Wynter, with writing credits from the late Static Major and Tank.

“I felt like being a part of this ‘Gone’ record was an amazing opportunity,” said Garrett. “Growing up admiring Aaliyah, who is such an icon, has completely been an inspiration for all of us. I could not have been more blessed to have made a record with her and Tank. Amazing voices and talent.”

Tank added, “Getting the call to be part of her legacy’s continuation is truly amazing. It is a full-circle moment and an honor to contribute to the project.”

“Gone” is expected to appear on Aaliyah’s oft-delayed posthumous album,Unstoppable.The album was initially scheduled to release in January 2022, following the premiere of the lead single “Poison” featuringThe Weekndin December 2021.

In 2024, Blackground wished Aaliyah a happy birthday and confirmed thatUnstoppableis still in the works. “It’s coming,” the label shared in an Instagram caption, along with a link to a landing page at unstoppableaaliyah.com.

As for Tank, he is set to release his new single “Giddy Up” in October.
