American Horror Story Season 14 Renewed — Everything We Know About the Next Season

TV

American Horror Story isn’t going anywhere. FX has officially renewed Ryan Murphy’s long-running horror anthology for a 14th installment, and the announcement comes as American Horror Story: 13 prepares for its highly anticipated season finale on October 29.

The renewal follows a record-breaking premiere for AHS: 13, which delivered the franchise’s biggest streaming debut ever and marked Murphy’s biggest launch on Hulu and Disney+, based on views during its first four days. The season also landed on Nielsen’s Streaming Top 10 chart, proving that after 15 years, fans still can’t get enough of Murphy’s twisted universe.

And it’s easy to see why. The ambitious crossover has resurrected fan-favorite characters from “Coven,” “Murder House,” “Freak Show,” “Hotel,” “Cult,” and “Apocalypse,” bringing together some of the franchise’s biggest personalities for one hell of a reunion. Season 13 brought back some of Murphy’s most memorable characters, played by franchise favorites including Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Emma Roberts, and Billie Lourd, alongside newcomers Joey Pollari, Madelaine Petsch, and Avantika, just to name a few.

With Season 13 wrapping up just in time for Halloween and Season 14 officially on the way, the question now is what fresh nightmare Murphy and cocreator Brad Falchuk have planned next. Will the next installment continue the crossover madness or introduce an entirely new horror story?

Here is everything we know about American Horror Story Season 14 so far.

What is American Horror Story Season 14 about?

American Horror Story Season 14 plot details have not been revealed. Murphy has confirmed he is developing ideas and discussing potential cast members, but he has yet to announce a synopsis.

“I’m working on Season 14 as we speak in terms of, ‘What’s the idea?’ and ‘Who wants to be in it?’” Murphy told The Hollywood Reporter. “I loved doing this season because I had not directed an American Horror Story since ‘Freak Show,’ I think. Not since Season 4. And I directed the pilot this year, and I just love the process of going to all the cast members, all of whom are very busy, and saying, ‘Hey, can we get the band back together?’”

In a Reddit thread, fans shared what they’d most like to see from future seasons, with ideas ranging from a bygone-era ghost ship and a pioneer-themed season incorporating real-life horrors like the Donner Party to seasons centered on Plum Island or the Civil War. Others simply want the show to revisit “Red Tide” season and finally expand on that story.

Who will star in American Horror Story Season 14?

No cast members have been confirmed for Season 14 of American Horror Story yet, but Murphy has his favorite players, including Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Finn Wittrock, Billie Lourd, and Denis O’Hare, to name a few.

Murphy regular player Sarah Paulson revealed she is always game to return. “You are going to have to drag me out of this universe kicking and screaming,” Paulson told TV Insider. “I like doing it. Anytime a season’s over, I’m like, ‘God, they’re gonna get me back another year; I can feel it.’”
