Where they from?
Magnicide are from Singapore and Punished Earth are from Belgium. NFL starts this week. I gave my joke Super Bowl prediction a few weeks ago (Jets vs Lions) but my much more serious, big-boy prediction is 49ers vs Broncos. It’s equal parts boring and derivative, just like everything else in our rapidly decomposing society.
Why the hype?
I write about both bands when I cover split EPs from now on and for good reason. Magnicide are absolute legends in the Asian grindcore scene and Punished Earth have likewise been around since 1997. Magnicide deliver their grind in relentless blizzards of punk-infused blasts while Punished Earth are more pummeling and…punishing with their avalanches of death-infused blasts and beatdowns.
Latest release?
Split 12-inch out now on Shit Resist Records. Apparently this album was recorded ten whole years ago but never saw the light of day until now due to unforeseen complications. Well good thing it did because this bad boy rips! Three punk as fuck grindcore tracks from the Singaporian masters and then a veritable pummeling from Punished Earth. Good, clean fun for the whole family.
