Daley Returns With New Single Lavender

R&B

British R&B singer Daley is back with his new single “Lavender” via TEXX7 Records/SRG-ILS Group.

On the self-penned and produced track, Daley strolls through love’s botanical garden, where he yearns for a partner who matches his desire. It’s the kind of romance that feels effortless and easy to get lost in, like a floral haze drifting in the air.

“Lay down your defenses / Let go your pretenses / Give me all your senses / And I’ll make you feel / Lavender,” Daley croons in the chorus.

“Lavender” is Daley’s first single since releasing his sophomore album,The Spectrum, in 2017 under BMG. “It’s been a long time coming… but my first release as an independent artist is now yours,” Daley wrote on Instagram. “I don’t yet have the words to fully express what this moment represents, what was overcome to get here… Right now, just lose yourself in the song. We’re back.”

In March, Daley announced his new partnership with SRG-ILS Group, joining a roster that includes Lalah Hathaway, PJ Morton and Tweet. “From early conversations with Walter Millsap III and Claude at SRG, I felt an instant appreciation and excitement about the music, from people who have a genuine understanding of the craft,” he said. “It’s exciting to partner with a team who see the creative vision and have the energy and expertise to help me elevate it.”

“Lavender” is the lead single from Daley’s upcoming third album, which is said to tap deeper into his alt-R&B and soul roots “with the vocal quality and emotional presence for which he has become known.”

The Spectrumfeatured his duet with Jill Scott, “Until The Pain Is Gone.” RegardingThe Spectrum, Daley told Rated R&B: “I came up with it, from a musical perspective, when I started exploring this album. I was just feeling like I should make an album with a certain sound. I was thinking I should do this kind of dark, spacey R&B thing. But when I started writing, it dawned on me that it doesn’t encompass everything that I am and what I do in my live shows.”
