Here we go again. We’ve got another crusty old white man spouting off about shit he doesn’t know or understand. This time, it’s Pink Floydco-founderRoger Watersdoubling down on some past stupid shit he said about Ozzy Osbourne after his death.
During a recent appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored, Waters was debating a number of geopolitical issues before Morgan brought up anger the musician had stirred up after talking shit about Ozzy, referencing statements from both Sharon and Jack Osbourne. Morgan said he took Waters’ comments personally because he’d been a friend of the Prince of Darkness for some time.
All of this kicked off last August when Waters had an interview withThe Independent Ink. In that discussion,Waters said some stupid, ill-informed nonsense on the lateOzzy Osbourne‘s passing and the legacy ofBlack Sabbath.
“Ozzy Osbourne, who just died, bless him in his whatever state that he was in his whole life. We’ll never know. The music, I have no idea. I couldn’t give a fuck.
“I don’t care about Black Sabbath, I never did. Have no interest in biting the heads of chickens or whatever they do. I couldn’t care less, you know.”
Naturally, the Osbournes responded, with Jack Osbourne ultimately firing back in perhaps the most pointed way of the bunch.
“Hey Roger Waters, fuck you. How pathetic and out of touch you’ve become. The only way you seem to get attention these days is by vomiting out bullshit in the press. My father always thought you were a cunt. Thanks for proving him right.”
Waters attempted to defend himself by saying his comments happened during a lengthy interview, but that he didn’t deny that he’d said it. He eventually said he’d apologize for what he said before taking that courtesy back once he started talking about Sharon.
“Not that I have any time for Sharon Osbourne, she’s a raging Zionist and in consequence… she’s accused me of all kinds of things. Because she’s part of the Israeli lobby.”
Waters has long been a vocal supporter of Palestine and an opponent to the genocide that Israel continues to perpetuate in the region. He’s also been asupporter of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement. Both stances are definitely against the pro-Israeli stance thatSharon’s taken in the past.
As for Jack, Waters said he’d be happy to sit down and have a discussion with him if he wanted to.
“I’m sorry you lost your dad, Jack. But you have conversations about things and about people. ‘What do you think?’ Well, not a lot. I was honest. I said I didn’t like Black Sabbath… I’ve listened to some of it since and the music is perfectly kind of acceptable. It was all the kind of histrionics. I just don’t like people who bite the heads off bats. I just don’t, I think it’s disgusting.”
