Black Label Society Dial Up the Groove on “Broken And Blind”

Metal

Zakk Wylde’s been a busy, busy boy as of late. We all know the dude’s been all over the world touring with Pantera over the last couple of years, but he’s still got his other projects, too. His most recent solo effort was Book Of Shadows II from a couple years ago, but he also played an integral role in Ozzy’s farewell show at ‘Back to the Beginning’ and sadly, he’s had to process the grief that came when the “Prince of Darkness” left us all.

Yet with all those things on his plate, Wylde and his bandmates in Black Label Society have been putting out the occasional single here and there to remind everyone of their presence. Last September, BLS released “The Gallows”, which had a very Sonic Brew feel to it. Then there was “Lord Humungous”, and now this week we’ve got a groove-laden track titled “Broken and Blind”.

Released yesterday, the standalone single was released via MNRK Heavy and Spinefarm Records and preceeds the band’s next album expected to release next year. Of course, as a New Jersey native, Wylde’s had to use his gift of gab to explain where the track’s origins lie:

“What’s going on gang? This is Zakk Wylde of Black Label Society. This is a new song called ‘Broken and Blind’. The song is about peanut butter and chocolate and what happens when you don’t have any of it. My soul is broken and I’m blind with rage if I don’t have any peanut butter and chocolate, so there you go, it’s a new song called ‘Broken and Blind’. Thank you, have a great day.”

So there you have it. You can stream “Broken and Blind” on whatever digital streaming platform you prefer. You can also check out the music video, directed by long-time collaborator Justin Reich, below.
