Overkill’s Got a New Record in the Works

Metal

Not ones to sit around and waste time, New Jersey’s very own thrash metal icons Overkill are back at the studio writing new music for their follow-up to 2023’s Scorched.

Earlier this week, the band’s new drummer Jeramie Kling posted to social media to boast about his new Roland electronic drum kit while also sharing that he was “writing writing writing.” The post gave fans a glimpse into the process for the band’s newest member, who’d joined the band back in August 2024 to replace an exiting Jason Bittner.

You’ll likely recall that Bittner originally joined Overkill back in 2017 and contributed to the albums The Wings Of War and Scorched. Though he’d been there for roughly seven years, Bittner’s departure last August wasn’t a complete shock, as he’d been vocal in recent year about he wasn’t entirely happy in the band.

With Kling now firmly behind the kit, the band get to draw upon his wealth of experience and knowledge, having played for a long list of bands in his time. They include bands like Venom Inc., FORE, Ribspreader, Goregäng, and Necromancing the Stone. He also had short runs with Massacre, while eventually became Inhuman Condition.

Kling is also a well known producer and recording engineer, so it’s likely he’ll be able to contribute to Overkill’s next album efforts.

As for what the band is working on, we’re going to have to wait before we hear anything from Overkill just yet. Either way, we’ve got plenty of old school Overkill to blast as loud as we can.
