Sienno Spiro has a voice that stops you in your tracks. With only a handful of original songs to her name, none officially released before 2024, the North London singer’s poised and sandpapery-smooth vocals are the primary reason for her whirlwind beginnings. Before she hit the ground running with “NEED ME” and “MAYBE.,” which has racked up more than 50 million Spotify streams, Sienna flexed her muscles by posting covers online. A little Frank Ocean and Tems here. Some Michael Jackson and Edith Piaf there. No matter the decade or genre, comment sections ate it up – drawing lofty comparisons to Adele and Amy Winehouse, while begging for more. How did someone born in the mid-2000s develop such a deep musical bag? “My dad would play a lot of great music in the house, old soul and jazz,” she explained from the perch of our DSCVR stage. “I used to listen to them all the time and try to copy how they were singing.” Therein lies the behind-the-scenes reason for Sienna’s past, current, and future success: she keeps family close. In our interview, she happily revealed that she talks on the phone with her parents every day, and swaps demos with her sister (along with memes, of course). One couldn’t ask for a better support system, especially when embarking on your first year of shows and touring. It helps that Sienna looks like she was born for the stage when she lit up our own with the plaintive ballad “MAYBE.,” the centerpiece of her debut EP, ‘SINK NOW, SWIM LATER.’ Stay tuned, there’s more to come.
