[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for The Bear Season 4.]

The Bear‘s fourth season finally landed on June 25, and after another cliffhanger conclusion, we couldn’t help but wonder, will the show return for Season 5? Wonder, no more. The FX original, which has streamed exclusively on Hulu since 2022, has been renewed for Season 5, the network announced on July 1, guaranteeing that the loose ends left in the Season 4 finale will be addressed.

FX said thatThe Bear Season 4 has had impressive viewership in the first week since its release, although it didn’t share any viewership data outside of the season’s 85% Rotten Tomatoes score.

The Bear continues to be a fan favorite worldwide and their response to this season — as seen through incredibly high viewership — has been as spectacular as any of its previous seasons,” said FX chairman John Landgraf. “Year-in and year-out, Chris Storer, the producers, cast, and crew make The Bear one of the best shows on television, and we are excited that they will continue to tell this magnificent story.”

The renewal announcement makes no mention of Season 5 potentially being its last, so assume that it won’t be billed as the final season for now. There were concerns about the availability of its stars, who have all risen to higher levels of fame because of the restaurant dramedy.

What wouldThe Bear Season 5 be about?

As viewers who tuned into Season 4 already know, [Spoiler] Carmy (White) revealed to Sydney (Ayo) and Richie (Moss-Bachrach) that he’ll step away from the kitchen as he plans to retire, leaving the titular restaurant in their hands alongside his sister Natalie (Elliott). We’d imagine that Season 5 would explore how the restaurant would function without Carmy and see how he discovers his identity outside of the culinary world. Only time will tell, though, as no plot details about the upcoming season were shared in the renewal announcement.

Who would make The Bear Season 5?

The Bear‘s currently helmed by creator, writer, and director Christopher Storer, who executive produces the show alongside Josh Senior, Joanna Calo, Cooper Wehde, Tyson Binder, Matty Matheson, Hiro Murai, and Rene Gube. Meanwhile, Courtney Storer has served as a co-executive producer and culinary producer on the show produced by FX Productions. We’d expect most, if not all, of this team to return.
