Progressive R&B singer-songwriter Leven Kali sees love in his future on his new single “Crystal Ball.”
He co-produced the track with his close collaborators Daniel Memmi and Sol Was. Production-wise, “Crystal Ball” is driven by the force of rock-leaning guitars and percussion, yet still maintains the essence of emotion rooted in R&B. Lyrically, the song declares Kali’s devotion to a love interest if given the chance.
“It’s the stars inside your eyes that guide me home / And baby girl, you been sleeping on the kid for way too long / Oh, and I’m still here and all I want is you,” he croons in verse two.
“Crystal Ball” builds on Kali’s impressive run this year with the blazing singles “Pieces” and “Are U Still.” Each track feels like a jam session in a packed venue, where the live instrumentation is enough to move the crowd, and Kali’s soaring vocals take it even higher — a night of euphoria.
If the three songs Kali has released so far in 2025 are any indication of where his next project is headed, fans are in for one hell of a ride. Although Kali hasn’t officially announced a new project yet, it will mark his first release under Def Jam Recordings.
Kali’s last project, Let It Rain, was released independently in 2022. The EP arrived four months after Kali landed placements on Beyoncé‘s culture-shifting album, Renaissance, where he contributed to “Alien Superstar,” “Plastic Off The Sofa,” “Virgo’s Groove” and “Summer Renaissance.”
Since then, Beyoncé enlisted Kali again for Cowboy Carter, which won Album of the Year at the 67th Grammy Awards. He co-wrote the summer-ready “Bodyguard,” produced by Raphael Saadiq.
