The music industry is tough, even for already successful celebrities.

When these celebs tried to launch music careers, their aspirations were quickly dashed by label execs, unimpressed fans, shifting music trends, lackluster (or just plain laughable) releases and more.

Well-known stars including Brie Larson and Emma Roberts found music in their teens in the 2000s, and they had high hopes for pop stardom. However, they ultimately stuck to acting after becoming disillusioned by the challenges of the music industry.

Other famous celebrities found moderate success with their music ventures early on—such as Die Hard icon Bruce Willis, who released a random R&B album in the ’80s through Motown, if you can believe it.
