Jordan Hawkins Faces the Heat of Toxic Love on New Song ‘Crazy’

R&B

Progressive R&B singer and guitarist Jordan Hawkins is spellbound by a toxic romance in his new song “Crazy.”

On the rock-soul track, Hawkins spends four minutes contemplating the emotional rollercoaster between him and his partner. He recognizes that it’s probably best that they go their separate ways, but part of him still longs for that romance, no matter how dysfunctional they are.

“Crazy how we living / Maybe we should break it off / ‘Cause life’s too short to waste our time and / We’re both young, guess we will find / Others, but I doubt I’ll love another like you,” he croons over a knife-sharp guitar and hushed bassline.

Speaking on his new song, Hawkins shares, “‘Crazy’ is an introspective dialogue that describes the internal conflict of dealing with a toxic relationship. Fueled by passion and raging emotions, the hook gives images of this conflict through lyrics like ‘busting out windows and breaking bed frames.’”

He continues, “While there are thoughts of leaving ultimately by the end of the song, there is no resolve as equal thoughts of staying persist. The lyrical placement of ‘Crazy’ switches from ‘crazy how we living’ to ‘think I’m crazy for yah,’ leaving a listener at a cliffhanger of where the story will continue next.”

“Crazy” is a continuation of the story that began with Hawkins’ “Emotions,” another gritty track that he described as “an explosion of expression.”

Both tracks will appear on Hawkins’ forthcoming project that will release later this year via Third & Hayden Recordings.

At the end of 2024, Hawkins treated his fans to 4Now, a three-track project that included “Better With Time, “Love So Good” and his cover of Lenny Kravitz’s “I Belong To You.”
