Pop princess Chappell Roan has shown she isn’t one to tip-toe into a room, and now she’s making noise in Nashville with the kickoff to her marketing campaign for “The Giver”. The song that she originally debuted on Saturday Night Live last fall is now preparing for radio release with a giant billboard advertising the single in Music City.

On Instagram Tuesday (Feb. 18), Roan revealed that “The Giver” is now available for preorder on 7-inch aquamarine “The Lawyer Edition” vinyls, which feature photos of the vocalist in a prim suit and slicked-back hair. According to her website — on which the discs were already sold-out by press time, though fans can request to be notified for a restock — shipments will go out “on or around” Aug. 18 this year.

The announcement comes shortly after Roan hid hints about “The Giver” in a dial-up stunt on her Instagram Story, which prompted fans to call the number (629) 468-8646 (aka “Hot To Go”) over the weekend. They were then met with a voice menu offering a series of options to reach a dentist, attorney, plumber or construction services.

Hitting the options took them to a trio of low-fi snippets of the song, on which Roan confidently noted her ability to “get the job done” and satisfy a female partner better than any man ever could. During a spoken word portion of the fiddle-flecked tune on SNL, Roan also boasted, “All you country boys think you know how to treat a woman right. Well, only a woman knows how to treat a woman right. She gets the job done.”

The “Pink Pony Club” artist also teased “The Giver” through various billboards advertising her own faux legal services, two of which she posted photos of on her Story Tuesday. One in New York City read, “Ew … someone had a little accident,” while another in the City of Angeles labeled Roan “Los Angeles’ finest divorce lawyer.”

In her latest post, Roan also teased that more ads would be going up in other locations. “Ps keep ur eyes peeled, she may be on a billboard in your town,” she added.

“The Giver,” which has not yet been officially released, is Roan’s first new music since the release of the singer’s Grammy-winning 2023 debut LP, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. In a New York Times interview last fall, Roan producer Dan Nigro teased that the twangy tune would be a “fun, uptempo country song” featuring some fiddle that would show a new side of the singer.

At the time, Nigro said he and Roan were already five songs into recording her sophomore effort, which he said would also include a “couple of ballads” and a “mid-tempo rock song.” Without saying too much, Nigro said that the untitled second LP would spotlight “a new version of Chappell.”

After Roan’s best new artist acceptance speech at last month’s Grammy Awards, a number of powerful figures in the music business have stepped forward to help heed the singer’s call to support up-and-coming artist’s need for health care. Among those who’ve donated to the cause so far are labelmate Sabrina Carpenter, Charli XCX and Noah Kahan, with Live Nation, AEG Global Touring, Wasserman Foundation and Hinterland Music Festival also joining the We Got You campaign.
