Track Premiere: Marrowomb – ‘Phantasia Katalepteke’

Metal

Chicago blackened death metal outfit Marrowomb is the brainchild of one Frank Lato, who handles the guitar, bass, synth and vocal duties in the band alongside session drummer Kevin Paradis (Benighted). The resulting product is Phisenomie, Marrowomb’s debut album, a potent concoction that walks the line between technical, symphonic and classic death metal. Though Phisenomie doesn’t come out until February 21, Decibel has an exclusive premiere of “Phantasia Katalepteke,” second track released from Marrowomb’s debut.

As the opening track, it packs everything one would want to know about a new band in an easy four minutes and 44 seconds.

“This was one of the first songs that was fully written and it ended up setting the stage for the rest of the record,” Lato tells Decibel. “It heavily contributed to my motivation for creating the rest of the album. I recall having to make little to no tweaks to its form, and I was pretty happy about how naturally it all happened. This is in contrast to a lot of the other songs, which took much more work to compose. I chose Phantasia as the opening track for the album due to its speed, simplistic flow, and memorability. The main lyrical themes revolve around the duality of self and how one can struggle with two (or even multiple) ways to present oneself outwardly. And in that struggle, it can sometimes be hard to know which one feels the most authentic. This ties into the overarching theme of the album.”

Check it out below; Phisenomie is available for pre-order via Bandcamp.
