Metal

German quartet Axetasy have been honing their their power metal-influenced speed thrash since the lads were teens back in 2019. After a handful of indie demo and digital single releases, their full-length debut, Withering Tides, arrives via Dying Victims Productions, a perfect landing spot for an outfit—Johnny “Amon” Kröner (vocals/guitar), Nik “Fetch” Mangold (guitar, backing vocals), Chris Kröner (drums), Ben “Jaxxy” Kruska (bass/backing vocals)—that’s definitely harkening back to the mid ’80s. The album is a juggernaut of guitar acrobatics, zippy tempos and throaty vocals, sort of a Helloween-Midnight mashup. Blackened power metal, anyone?

The nine-track Withering Tides is set for release on CD and vinyl on January 17. You can place your preorder here.

This is what the band had to say about its new long-player:

“We’re super proud and stoked as hell to finally present our debut album Withering Tides to all you maniacs out there that crave violent speed, strange magick and obscure insanity. Blast it loud, get hammered and spread the word: AXETASY WILL DRIVE YOU MAD!”
