Breaking Benjamin Share First New Music Since 2018 Called “Awaken”

Metal

You know what? Props to Breaking Benjamin, who have stayed in the either for like two decades. They’re finally back again with some new music—their first since 2018’s Ember—in the form of a new single called “Awaken.” Give it a listen below.

“Awaken” marks the band’s debut in their new label home of BMG, since they’re incredibly loyal and have been with Hollywood Records since their first album Saturate came out in 2002. I can’t even get a text back. Anyway, Jasen Rauch, the band’s guitarist, spoke on the new single.

“Working on this song has been something new and exciting for all of us, I believe. We’ve been able to explore more of who we are traditionally while at the same time push boundaries and try things we haven’t done in the past. Musically we’ve tried hard to stay true to what Breaking Benjamin is, but offer a new take as well.”

The band’s founder and frontman Benjamin Burnley has also given details about their newest creations, diving a little deeper into the rest of the album itself. Speaking with Full Metal Jackie’s KLOS show Whiplash, Burnley said:

“Yeah, it’s been the longest we’ve ever gone without putting out an album, but the strange thing is, I don’t know if it’s ’cause of the pandemic or not, but it doesn’t seem like it’s been that long, to me anyway, but it has been a long time. I think that a lot of that is just that we have, with every album that comes out, there’s just another whole album’s worth of stuff. We have a lot of songs in our catalog, so it’s kind of like it gets to the point of, like, we’re not gonna add any more to this just to add more to it. We need to keep true to what this catalog… When I am gone off the earth, and that’s all that’s left of me behind, is my offspring and music is what I’ve left behind, I want it to be really solid.”

I’m quite happy they’re adding more songs to their catalogue. There’s no such thing as too much.
