Montreal sci-fi prog-metalers Mad Parish unveil their new album, The Dust of Forever, on January 31 as a self-release, but you can preview the video for their song “Bishop’s Tomb” below.
The album is an original story written by Mad Parish that is told through a soundtrack and follows the story of Joe, the protagonist. The epic record acts as the backdrop to this sci-fi tapestry woven by Mad Parish and told throughout the record.
“The album is a departure from our traditional sound; however, the singalong choruses are very much intact as well as elements of the first album in an expanded form,” the band say about the album. “This is a full concept album which transports the listener to another universe through the story and enables new aspects to be discovered in repeated listens due to the layering of sounds and textures throughout all the songs.”
But where some bands call the lyrics the story and leave it at that, not Mad Parish. They’ve actually made a full comic book as well to go along with the record, which can be purchased alongside the album.
