Full Album Stream: Rvkkvs –Antithesis of Prosperity

Metal

There’s something to be said for a nice, concise 20-minute extreme metal album. Aukland, New Zealand death grind quartet Rvkkvs (rukus?) offer up just that on Antithesis of Prosperity. The longest song on this aggro crusher clocks in at three minutes and most are in the one- to two-minute range and are frequently augmented with snippets of sampled dialog. The short album features a musically surgical approach to its viciousness, with both guttural death vocals and raw, screamed exhortations. Rvkkvs pack a lot in a very rabid 20 minutes.

The nine tracks on Antithesis of Prosperity were recorded and mixed at Dynamic Rage Studio by Raj Singarajah and Cam Sinclair. Mastered at Primal Mastering by Luke Finlay. It’s set for release on CD and digitally via Grindhead Records on November 22. Place your digital preorder here and your physical preorder here.

This is what the band had to say about its debut:

“We have all travelled different paths in metal over decades of extremity in a multitude of forms. Our paths have converged at this stage of our musical journey, into the carnage that is Rvkkvs, a sound that doesn’t draw from the status quo, bringing back that primal urge we seek out of heavy music: to fuck shit up with crafted precision and raw intensity.

“We are proud to present our first album, Antithesis Of Prosperity. Pulling you downward into a filth ridden rot of your own creation, every effort is countered with a magnetic malaise into destitution. The album represents the descent into regression that is just waiting for all of us, grinning, only a choice away… All portrayed in nine frantic songs of maniacal death grind. Delivered straight from the heart and you know we had a fuckin’ good time making this music!! Brutal hails!”
