Full Album Stream: Chained to the Dead – “Only Hunger Remains”

Metal

When the sample ends and the first riff on “Flesh Hunt” begins, it’s clear that Only Hunger Remains, the new EP from horror-obsessed death metal troupe Chained to the Dead, rules. The New Jersey outfit have been slugging it out in the underground for a decade now but Only Hunger Remains—Chained to the Dead’s first new release since 2019—begins a new period for the band.

“With our new EP, Only Hunger Remains, Chained to the Dead continues to evolve our singular brand of horrific death metal,” Chained to the Dead tell Decibel. “This is the first of a trilogy of EPs that will each contain four new songs in our genre-defying style of extreme metal, combined with a couple of covers looking back at some of our metal heroes.

“Chained to the Dead is immensely happy to continue our long history of working with Horror Pain Gore Death Records. As a band that tries to push boundaries, eschew trends and create a singular vision of underground music, HPGD is the perfect partner in crime to help us murder your ears and spread our twisted vision of extreme music to the masses.”

On Only Hunger Remains, Chained to the Dead rip through four new originals that straddle the line between death and grind, plus a pair of Blood Duster covers and their take on Pungent Stench’s “Games of Humiliation.” The album is slated for release on October 25, but you can check it out right now.
