Ashes to ashes, dust to dust is the theme of the new video, “Misère de Poussière,” from Swiss deathcore outfit Conjonctive. The title roughly translates from French into “dust misery,” and there are plenty of images of that very thing in the video—directed by Brice Hincker and Amelie Dian—alternating between the female-and-male-fronted quintet playing in a rock quarry. The groove-laden deathcore track features the requisite 7-string-guitar acrobatics and two vocalists raging en Francais, which actually works well here.
The song is the title track to Conjonctive’s third album which was recorded by Vladimir Cochet at Conatus Studios and mixed and mastered by Miguel Tereso at Demigod Recordings. It will be self-released on vinyl and digitally on November 22. Place your preorder here.

“For us, this single is one of the best songs on the album. Some of you may notice that the first riff is a nod to our first EP back in 2009 when we were playing a mix of groove and nu metal. For this project, we worked with Brice Hincker, who shot most of our previous videos. ‘Poussière’ means ‘dust,’ and the lyrics reflect the idea that we all turn to dust in the end and that everything is forgotten over time. We were allowed to shoot a significant part of this video in a stone pit in the mountains of Switzerland.”
