The Weeknd, Playboi Carti’s ‘Timeless’ Debuts at No. 1 on Multiple Billboard Charts

The Weeknd‘s new single “Timeless” with Playboi Carti is off to a strong start on Billboard.

The Pharrell Williams-produced hit bows at No. 1 across various Billboard charts, including the R&B Digital Song Sales chart.

It marks The Weeknd’s 15th chart-topper and Playboi Carti’s second on this list. The rapper previously topped the chart with The Weeknd and Madonna in 2023 with “Popular” from The Idol soundtrack. 

Of The Weeknd’s 15 No. 1s on the R&B Digital Song Sales, five were achieved in the 2020s. Here is an overview of his No. 1s from this decade, in order by longest lead:

  • Blinding Lights,” 43 weeks at No. 1 (2020)
  • Die For You” with Ariana Grande (2023)
  • “Popular” with Playboi Carti & Madonna, two weeks at No. 1 (2023)
  • “Double Fantasy” featuring Future, one week at No. 1 (2023)
  • “Timeless” with Playboi Carti, one week at No. 1 so far (2024)

Further, “Timeless” earns The Weeknd his 13th No. 1 on Billboard’s R&B Streaming Songs chart, his 12th on Hot R&B Songs, his ninth on R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales, his ninth on R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs, his ninth on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, and fourth on Billboard’s Streaming Songs. 

Elsewhere on Billboard, “Timeless” makes a soaring debut at No. 3 on the Hot 100 chart, led by Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” for a 13th consecutive week. It becomes The Weeknd’s 19th top 10 hit on the popular singles chart and his tenth in the 2020s decade. It’s Playboi Carti’s fifth top 10 hit, all of which were scored this decade.

Additionally, “Timeless” debuts at No. 4 on the Digital Songs chart, becoming The Weeknd’s 20th top 10 hit.

On Spotify, “Timeless” has already surpassed 72 million streams since its release on Sept. 27.

“Timeless” is the second single from The Weeknd’s upcoming sixth album, Hurry Up TomorrowIt’s the follow-up to the Max Martin-helmed “Dancing In The Flames,” which was released Sept. 13. 

Hurry Up Tomorrow will mark the final installment of Abel’s album trilogy, following 2020’s After Hours and succeeded by 2022’s Dawn FMThe former spent four weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, while the latter came close with a No. 2 peak. 

According to press materials, Hurry Up Tomorrow “marks the creative peak of the series, weaving together existential and self-referential themes, as showcased in the latest teasers that have ignited fans’ excitement for this highly anticipated conclusion.”

Earlier this month, The Weeknd kicked off the Australian leg of his After Hours Til Dawn Tour in Melbourne. He will close out his four-show trek in Sydney at Accor Stadium on Oct. 22 and Oct. 23. Rising singer Chxrry22, who is signed to his XO Records, is supporting him as an opening act.

The Weeknd, who is a United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) Goodwill Ambassador, has partnered with WFP to donate $1 local equivalent from each ticket sale from the Australia concerts to the XO Humanitarian Fund, which supports the organization’s response to the unprecedented global hunger crisis.

A release date for Hurry Up Tomorrow has not been announced at this time. However, the album is available for pre-sale on The Weeknd’s official website
