Shania Twain Reveals Her Favorite Modern Country Artist

Country

Shania Twain has always toed the line between pop and country — she was one of the most progressive acts of the ’90s and early ’00s — so it’s not totally surprising that her taste in music might bend genres, too.

Though she stays busy — Twain is hosting the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards this Thursday (Sept. 26) — she seems to stay up-to-date on new and emerging acts.

And she knows what she likes.

In an exclusive gab with Taste of Country Nights, Twain talked about her upcoming hosting gig, but a lot of other topics, too. As far as new country music goes? The “You’re Still the One” hitmaker had her answer about what’s best ready.

“New right now to the genre — Shaboozey. His music and his videos just make me smile,” Twain admits, giving the “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” hitmaker the highest compliment.

“I just wanna be able to tell him that in person.”

Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” has been the No. 1 song in America, all genres, for more than 11 weeks now. He’ll of course be in attendance at the People’s Choice Country Awards, too. Twain knows this and is using it to her advantage to get to meet him.

“One of the privileges that I have hosting the night, is this access that I have,” she admits. She knows she’ll be able to freely roam backstage, because that’s her privilege as the night’s host.

“I’m gonna make a point of, you know, just thanking him for exuding that kind of feel-good vibe,” she says of tracking Shaboozey (real name Collins Obinna Chibueze) down.

Hopefully that moment will be caught on camera, because she’s sure to fangirl over him.

The 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards air Thursday, Sept. 26, at 8PM ET on NBC. The show will also stream on Peacock.

22 Country Stars With Their Own Bars + Restaurants

Of all of the side hustles country artists could partake in, opening a bar or restaurant is the most fitting — and very common. After all, many of these stars got their start on a barstool, tip jar nearby, playing their music for anyone who would listen.

These places feel like home for many of these singers. Over the years, several artists have gotten into the bar or restaurant game, and for a select few, brands have turned into franchises with several locations and/or concepts — we’re looking at you, Jimmy Buffett!

Let’s take a look at the country star food and entertainment venues that have opened over the years.
