Last year, we told you about New Miserable Experience, an electronic group formed by members of Rivers of Nihil, Rosetta, Revocation, Lotus Thrones and various other groups. Though the veteran band members have gotten around quite a bit in their careers, New Miserable Experience is a different style of music than they’ve played before forming New Miserable Experience.
Today, Decibel is premiering “Be Numb,” a cut from their debut full-length, Absent Lovers. Pushed along by ambient synths and a driving drum beat, it’s a hazy, mildly depressing listening experience, enhanced by the blue-tinged video directed by Decibel regular photog Scott Kinkade.
“‘Be Numb’ was one of the earliest songs we wrote for the album,” says vocalist David Grossman. “The original idea started with Brody (Uttley—Rivers of Nihil) and we all built around the structure he laid down. As far as what the song is about, it’s wishing to not feel anything at all.”
