The Flight of Sleipnir

Today, we are thrilled to bring you the exclusive premiere of Nature’s Cadence, the latest album from The Flight of Sleipnir. This release marks a significant moment in the band’s journey, showcasing their signature blend of folk-tinged black metal and a bold step into new creative territories.

A Journey of Evolution
Nature’s Cadence represents a turning point for The Flight of Sleipnir. After seven records of meticulously crafting their sound, founding members Clayton Cushman and David Csicsely have embraced a more collaborative approach, inviting new influences into the fold. The result is an album that feels expansive yet intimate, perfectly reflecting where the band stands today.

As Cushman shared, “This album is about letting go and trusting the music to guide us. We’ve always been about exploring new ground, but this time, it felt right to let go and see where the music—and the people we trust—would take us.”

What to Expect
Nature’s Cadence delivers everything longtime fans have come to love about The Flight of Sleipnir while also offering something fresh for newcomers. The album is filled with lush, atmospheric soundscapes, powerful riffs, and the hauntingly beautiful addition of pedal steel—a surprising yet perfect complement to the band’s evolving sound.

Tracks like “Madness” and “The Woodsman” stand out with their unique blend of familiar folk elements and new, unexpected twists. The pedal steel, in particular, adds an ethereal quality that will captivate listeners and elevate the album’s emotional depth.

A Message from the Band
The release of Nature’s Cadence is particularly poignant for the band, coming after the challenges of the past few years. Cushman reflects on the impact of the global pandemic: “COVID-19 was disorienting for us. It disrupted our usual creative process and made it tough to keep our momentum going. But in that disarray, we found an opportunity to step back and reflect on what we were doing. That introspection contributed to why Nature’s Cadence feels more open and collaborative. Despite everything, we adapted, evolved, and created a record that stays true to our roots while feeling fresh.”

The band is excited to finally share these new songs with their fans. “We’re so grateful for those who’ve stuck with us through the years. Their support means everything. And for those discovering us for the first time, we hope this album offers something they can connect with.”
