Queen Naija Shares New Song ‘Good Girls Finish Last’

R&B

Queen Naija is feeling the blues on her new single “Good Girls Finish Last.”

Over a production that sounds inspired by Tamia‘s “Officially Missing You,” Naija laments about the bittersweet feeling of leaving a relationship that no longer serves her.

“There’s nothing I could do to save us / And I’m starting to feel like everyone’s telling the truth / ‘Bout how you can’t force a man to choose you / I guess good girls finish last no matter what we do,” she sings.

“Good Girls Finish Last” was produced by Cardiak and Wu10. The song marks her first release since her After the Butterflies EP, which was released in November 2023.

The 10-track set, led by “Words of Affirmation,” included features from Monica, Ella Mai, Eric Bellinger, and YoungBoy Never Broke Again.

Since then, Naija joined Bellinger on “Mutual Agreement” from his album The Rebirth 3: The Party & The Bedroom

Naija released her debut album, missunderstood, in October 2020. The album featured collaborations with Lucky Daye, Jacquees, Kiana Ledé, Lil Durk, and more.

Missunderstood debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart.

In April 2021, Naija followed up with missunderstood…still, a deluxe edition of her debut album. The expanded set included the Ari Lennox-assisted “Set Him Up,” plus a Wale-featured remix of “Butterflies Pt. 2,” among other tracks.

Missunderstood…still was certified gold by the RIAA in November 2023 with over 500,000 equivalent units sold. It marked Naija’s second project to achieve a gold certification, following her self-titled debut EP, released in 2018.

In 2023, “Medicine” and “Butterflies” from Queen Naija were updated to 2x platinum by the RIAA.
