The techy, deathcore-infused Annelida release their debut album, Garage Honey & the Bar Fly Mutiny, this Friday on Manic Kat Records.
The Nevada-based band are bringing their proggy, heavy sound to us on the heals of their EP Lord Leech out in January 2022, but now, they’re back with what they consider to be their most high-octane, brutal offerings yet.
Vocalist Kevin Thomas says about the album:
“Garage Honey and the Bar Fly Mutiny is almost a rebirth of the band without us ever going away. The band started as a quarantine project that grew to be something much bigger than I ever expected. I wrote and recorded a lot of this album between tours in 2023. While on the road, it was easy to see what sets us apart as a band, something I couldn’t see or think about when I started the Lord Leech EP in 2020. Pretty early on in the writing process, I really started leaning into these harsh sounds and going after the feeling of “uneasy and anxious” while writing very personal and storytelling lyrics, something I avoided with the last EP. I told my bandmates very early on, ‘I want the inside of your skull to itch when you listen to us.’ I hope I got that.”
