Suicidal Tendencies have been talking for a little while about possibly releasing new music with the band’s current lineup which includes the band’s frontman Mike Muir, Dean Pleasants on guitar, Dillenger Escape Plan guitarist Ben Weinman on second guitar, Robert Trujillo’s son Tye Trujillo, and recent outcast from the Slipknot camp Jay Weinberg. Winman, Trujillo, and Weinberg have yet to appear on any recorded music from Suicidal Tendencies, and at a press conference held recently at Hellfest, Muir indicated that Weinberg was especially keen to make a new record. Well, now we have at least our first taste of music under the current lineup with the latest single from Suicidal Tendencies.
The new song is “Nós Somos Família,” a Portuguese-language re-recording of the band’s song “We Are Family” from their 1999 album Freedumb. The song has guest vocal appearances from a number of Brazillian punk, hardcore, metal, and even hip-hop artists, including Badauí (Cpm22), João Gordo (Ratos de Porão), B Negão (Planet Hemp), Rodrigo Lima (Dead Fish), Supla, Fernanda Lima (Crypta), Sandro Dias, Milton Aguiar (Bayside Kings), Mayara Puertas (Torture Squad), Felipe Ribeiro (Treva), Pirata Homes (Anjo dos Becos), Ya Amaral (Eskrota), Júnior Bass, and Marinho.
