Ever since last December, Slipknot fans have been patiently waiting to find out when and where the band’s 25th anniversary tour would make its way to this side of the globe. Slipknot had already announced the European and U.K. tour celebrating the band’s self-titled debut album, but there was nary a mention of anything even remotely close to North and South America — that was until just moments ago.
Over on the band’s various social media pages, they announced a pair of shows in Mexico — with one being their first-ever headlining gig in Mexico City — and they’re branded pretty prominently as anniversary shows.
According to the posts, the two shows will take place on November 8 and November 9 in Guadalajara and Mexico City, respectively. As such, these shows will take place roughly a month prior to the U.K./European run but well after the band’s U.S. festival appearances at Sick New World, Welcome to Rockville, and Sonic Temple.
One would assume that now that we’re hearing about Mexico dates that North American dates won’t be too far behind. I’m going to go out on a limb and say it could come about sooner rather than later. And given the fact that the debut album in question came out on June 29, 1999, I’d wager that any North American dates will land around then.
Just a hunch.
