Blast Worship: Munter – Decibel Magazine

Metal

Where they from?
England, U.K. Baseball started this past week. My World Series prediction is Yankees/Dodgers. I don’t know how accurate that is, I just know it would piss everybody off the most, which would be great. No one deserves to be happy! Especially us Mets fans!

Why the hype?
OY A BIT OF THE OL’ MASH AND PIE VIOLENCE, EH? I have definitely covered my fair share of British bands here but Munter is by far the MOST British to ever grace the spotlight of Blast Worship. Just imagine a scuzzier, more D-beat version of the Afternoon Gentlemen and you get the idea. Listening to this band is the musical equivalent of snorting a line of Ketamine off one of the toilets at New Cross Inn. Ah, to be young again.

Latest Release?
The Off-Licence, self-released. Though normally a staple of more gore-oriented bands, the pingy, tin can snare does a lot of the heavy lifting here, adding a certain WALLOP to the crusty D-beat madness the band manages to conjure up in a mere seven minute run time. I also dig the use of the HM-2 guitar pedal here, which is odd because I usually HATE that shit. Congress should pass a law making it only legal for Europeans to use said pedal, as they’re the only ones who don’t make it sound like SHIT. PIE AND MASH.
