Cradle of Filth Members Announce Their Engagement

Metal

There has to be a level of commitment when performing and touring in the same band that most of us “civilians” won’t really understand. Lots of sacrifices, lots of embarrassing moments, and for two members of Cradle of Filth found out, lost of love to uncover as well.

In a special New Years’ Day post on their Instagram pages, Cradle of Filth guitarist Marek “Ashok” Šmerda and keyboardist Zoe Marie Federoff revealed that they were tying the knot and becoming Mr. and Mrs. Šmerda.

According to Federoff, who joined the band back in 2022, she didn’t know her current beau prior to becoming a full-time member of the band. She also noted that their eventual courtship had nothing to do with her hiring. Still, we’re sure some people in the comments will make some shitty remarks, but here we are in 2024.

“First of all, thank you all so much for your warm wishes and congratulations,” wrote Federoff. “Secondly, I truly wish I didn’t feel the need to completely clear this up but there’s a lot of strange rumors and stories floating around so, take note:

“I never knew Ashok before I joined CoF. He had nothing to do with me coming on board. I have already written some material for the next CoF album so clearly our engagement has nothing to do with my continued stay in this band.

“We have no plans to leave CoF as we truly enjoy working together, not to mention working with several of our closest friends. Dani has been the greatest and most supportive leader possible when it comes to our engagement. We remain happily committed to his team in CoF.

“Now please- stop speculating and spreading rumors and let’s celebrate all the good things happening this year!”

And as it turns out, Cradle of Filth vocalist Dani Filth gave his blessing for the two lovebirds to make it officially official, which is nice of him. It’s definitely doing to change the dynamic in the band, but hell — love is love after all.
