Cleo Sol recently visited Later… with Jools Holland to perform material from her new album, Heaven.
Wearing a chocolate brown two-piece outfit, the rising soul singer delivered a rousing rendition of “Airplane” with a full band.
She also revisited her acclaimed 2021 set, Mother, to perform a live take of “Sunshine.”
“Airplay” is lifted from Cleo Sol’s Heaven, the first of two albums she released this year. Her frequent collaborator Inflo produced the nine-track effort shared on Sept. 15.
“My Album Heaven is out now, thank you guys for your patience and support, I pour my heart and soul into the music and it is very sacred to me, we don’t play with music, it is a gift that I am grateful to God for,” Sol wrote in an Instagram post.
“Thank u Flo for loving me through these creative processes, pushing me even when I’m resistant, change and growth is necessary,” she added.
Later in September, Cleo Sol dropped Gold, a 10-track album also produced by Inflo. The latter LP and Heaven follow 2021’s Mother, a comforting album inspired by her first brush with bearing a child.
“I became a mother this year, and it’s been the most transformative, uplifting, heart melting, strength giving experience thus far that led me to write this album,” Sol wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post about the album. “God’s got jokes and was like, ‘Now you guys create and have fun,’ so we did. Mother was born, and truly it was a beautiful, growing experience.”
Rated R&B recognized Mother on its 30 Best R&B Albums of 2021 list.
