Coco Jones Covers Destiny’s Child’s ‘8 Days of Christmas’

Coco Jones has teamed with Apple Music for a surprise holiday release, “8 Days of Christmas.” It’s a remake of the title track from Destiny’s Child’s holiday album, released in 2001.

Destiny’s Child released their debut holiday album, 8 Days of Christmas, on Oct. 30, 2001. The album peaked at No. 3 on Billboard’s Top Holidays Albums chart and No. 34 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Circling back to Jones’ cover, it best displays her smooth and lively voice, as well as her excitement for the holiday season, particularly when it comes at the expense of her man.

Jones’ rendition of “8 Days of Christmas” arrives days after landing her second appearance on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart with “Spend The Night,” a track featuring BJ The Chicago Kid. The song debuted at No. 30 for the chart week dated Nov. 4.

“Spend The Night” will appear on Gravy, BJ The Chicago Kid’s collaborative album with producer Yeti Beats, out Nov. 10.

Jones is currently on tour supporting her recent project, What I Didn’t Tell You (Deluxe), which came out earlier this year. Singles include “ICU” and “Double Back.”

The former track, produced by Camper, has topped multiple charts, including urban radio as well as R&B Digital Song Sales and Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, according to Billboard.

An official remix featuring fellow Tennessee native Justin Timberlake arrived amid its success.

Regarding the rise of “ICU,” Camper exclusively told Rated R&B, “I didn’t know how big it was gonna be. It just so happened that it took off the way it did. God has his hands all through it. It’s just saying staying true and making real music. [Coco] was down with that from day one.”

In September, Jones collaborated with Brent Faiyaz for “Moment Of Your Life.” The song appears on his freshly released project, Larger Than Life.

Recently, Jones received six 2023 Soul Train Awards nominations.
