Chlöe appeared solo for her second Tiny Desk concert at NPR headquarters, performing music from her debut album, In Pieces.
Wearing a hooded black jacket, Chlöe began her performance with “Surprise,” a song produced by Scott Storch and IllaDaProducer, which was originally intended for In Pieces but was later abandoned.
She then went into “Body Do,” the third official taste of In Pieces. The rest of her set consisted of tracks her debut, including “Worried” and the title track.
She concluded her show with her fun take of “Cheatback,” a song that features rapper Future. He was not part of the live rendition.
Chlöe made her Tiny Desk debut as Chloe x Halle in late 2020, promoting their Grammy-nominated sophomore album, Ungodly Hour, which received year-end acclaim from Rated R&B.
Doubling back to Chlöe’s debut album, In Pieces, was released March 31 on Parkwood Entertainment/Columbia Records. Three singles were issued before its release, including “How Does It Feel” featuring Chris Brown.
Most recently, “How Does It Feel” earned a Best R&B nomination at the 2023 MTV Video Music Video Awards. The ceremony will be held Sept. 12.
In Pieces debuted at No. 17 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart. It also started at No. 119 on the Billboard 200.
Rated R&B reviewed In Pieces, describing it as “a testament to her ability to endure and put it into the music.”
In her first headlining tour this spring, Chlöe performed in venues nationwide. She performed at the Broccoli City Festival in July and is scheduled for Honeyland Festival this fall.
Currently, Chlöe is playing dates in support of the second leg of her In Pieces Tour. It concludes Sept. 10 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
