Tamika Scott and Method Man’s ‘Tonight’ Debuts on Billboard

R&B

Tamika Scott’s latest single “Tonight” with Method Man has landed on Billboard this week.

The Xscape member’s celebratory track debuts at No. 30 on the Billboard Adult R&B Airplay chart dated for the week of July 22. The chart is led by legendary singer, songwriter and producer Babyface’s “As a Matter of Fact” for a second consecutive week.

It’s Scott’s first appearance on this chart as a solo act, while it’s Method Man’s second visit. He previously appeared on the Adult R&B Airplay chart in 2003 from his feature on Mary J. Blige‘s “Love At 1st Sight.”

At R&B radio, “Tonight” moves up one spot to No. 32 with over 600,000 audience impressions. “As a Matter of Fact” is also at the top of this chart monitored by Mediabase.

On Spotify, “Tonight” has 212,000 streams and counting. It’s Scott’s second most-streamed song on that platform, following her 2019’s “Go Outside in the Rain” (259,000 streams), lifted from her Family Affair EP.

“Tonight” is an updated version of Scott’s 2019 single “Tonite,” which was released on SoundCloud. Scott released the Method Man-assisted track in April and followed up with an official video in May, directed by Picture Perfect.

Scott has yet to confirm if “Tonight” will appear on a future project.

As noted above, Scott released her debut solo EP, Family Affair, in December 2019. “My inspiration for my new EP Family Affair is being able to share my first solo project with my family,” Scott exclusively told Rated R&B. “There’s alot of talent in my family and we walk around our home creating and having a good time, so it feels good to be able to put some of the things on my project.”

In Xscape news, the group recently collected five new certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). In March, they received awards for the following singles: “Just Kickin’ It” (2x multi-platinum), “Understanding” (platinum), “Who Can I Run To” (platinum), “My Little Secret” (gold), and “Do You Want To” (gold).
