A weatherman has gone viral for his use of metal references in his recurring forecasts.
Chris Michaels of WSLS 10 News is apparently a metalhead and is now known for quoting lyrics well-known metal bands when he is on the air.
The meteorologist is based in Roanoke, Virginia, and became popular through his TikTok account, which currently has about 9K followers. The average viewer wouldn’t notice anything out of the ordinary about his reports, but those looking for metal Easter Eggs will definitely pick up on a few.
In a recent report, he said:
“If you’re like me and you hate watching repeating forecasts and you’re like, ‘Come on, take me past the edge; I want to see the other side of this weather pattern.’”
This is a reference to the track “The Summoning from Sleep Token‘s 2023 album Take Me Back To Eden.
He has also quoted Motionless In White and Bad Omens, to name a few of the bands he alludes to. Fans are now reaching out, suggesting that he make reference to the likes of Fall Out Boy, Spiritbox, and Breaking Benjamin.
Those who follow Michaels on socials have learned a bit more about his metal fandom, including the fact that in his spare time he also plays the drums. With any luck, this kind of coded metalhead communication will become a new tradition in media.
