Singer and actor Ray Lavender has released his new single “Steppin’ With My Baby.”
On the captivating midtempo groove, Lavender sings about dancing the night away with his lover.
Regarding his new single, Lavender exclusively tells Rated R&B. “I’ve been a fan of the steppers community for a long time now. I was introduced to stepping in Louisiana but didn’t know it was as big until I met George Daniels by way of Chicago. His wife Regina Daniels was my publicist at the time and that’s when I became a huge fan of the steppers culture.”
He adds, “So this time around I decided to create a song that we get people together at the backyard cookout dancing and stepping together. Me and the amazing J-Hott Scott got together and this song was born!”
“Steppin’ With My Baby” is the lead single from Lavender’s upcoming album, Fa Real. It will follow his 2020 project, 100/Q&C, which featured Teddy Riley, Tank and J-Hott.
Lavender was formerly signed to Akon’s Kon Live/Geffen Records. He is known for bops like “My Girl Gotta Girlfriend” and “Put It Down” featuring T-Pain. The former was released in 2007, while the latter dropped in 2008.
