Rising R&B trio FLO stopped by The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, where they performed their current single, “Fly Girl.”
Each member, styled in sassy outfits, FLO shook their rumps and brought stunning vocals and nostalgia to the in-studio audience and at-home viewers.
FLO released “Fly Girl,” which features Missy Elliott, in March. The bop samples and interpolates Elliott’s Grammy-winning 2002 hit single, “Work It.”
Regarding the track, FLO commented, “‘Fly Girl’ is all about confidence, good vibes and feeling your best. It’s a lively, feel-good song that still incorporates clever lyrics and fire vocals, if we do say so ourselves. It’s quite literally the perfect fusion of old-school meets modern-day R&B, with a nod to and feature from the original fly girl Missy Elliott herself.”
Elliott added, “I remember a few of their fans sent me clips of their performances, and I immediately felt the authentic ’90s vibe. I loved the fact they all sang lead so well —great vocal control—so when I was asked to be part of the ‘Fly Girl’ record, it was a no-brainer.”
At the time of this publishing, “Fly Girl” is one of FLO’s trending songs on Spotify. It’s now amassed 8.3 million listens on the streaming platform.
“Fly Girl” is FLO’s first song release of the year. Prior to that, the R&B group released “Losing You” in December 2022. Both tracks follow their 2022 debut EP, The Lead, which was reissued with the bonus track, “Not My Job.”
FLO is currently performing nationwide on a headlining FLO Live tour. Get more ticket information at flolikethis.com.
