Roy Woods is back. The OVO-signed artist has returned with “Young Boy Problems,” his second song release of the year.
On the hypnotizing track, Woods offers a glimpse into a culture of distracted men who are fixated on seducing women and having their heads in the clouds. He is not concerned with moving away from this carefree lifestyle as he croons about his particular girl being his stress reliever.
“Me and you both got some stress / We should let out on each other / We can do it all undercover in your suburbs,” he sings.
“This song speaks on the feelings of having that ‘one’ and the chase of never wanting moments to end. ‘Young Boy Problems’ can convert to young girl, or young people problems as these are ways we all feel in our 20s,” explains Woods.
Woods packaged his latest song, “Young Boy Problems,” with an official video directed by Jesse Dart. In it, Woods has heavy eyelids and presumably wishes he could swap out liquor for water as he stumbles through a crowded function.
“Young Boy Problems” is Woods’ follow-up single to “Don’t Love Me,” which was perfectly timed for Valentine’s Day. He has dropped other songs, mostly in 2022, including “Bad Bad” and “Insecure.”
There is no additional information to support if all those singles will appear on his forthcoming album Mixed Emotions. The album is slated for release sometime this summer and will follow Woods’ 2017 debut album, Say Less.
In 2020, Woods released an EP titled Dem Times. “We’re in a place and space that a lot of us have never experienced before. That’s what made me want to release my EP, Dem Times, and it’s also why I chose the name,” he explained. “If you’re from Toronto, then you know exactly what I am referring to. Life is short and can change in a blink of an eye. Appreciate life and all ‘dem times’ at all times.”
