Metal Internet Radio Station Gimme Metal to Cease Operations This Month

Metal

After a six-year run of creating the premiere metal station online, Gimme Radio — and its Gimme Metal channel — are official shutting down on April 29. Since their 2017 launch, Gimme has become a home to a vibrant community of metal fans via quality, exclusive programming and content from high profile musicians like Dave Mustaine to the deepest corners of the underground scene. Gimme has also been a longtime supporter of Decibel — I even had a show on the channel for a couple years — so, the whole Decibel team is saddened to see good company run by great people call it day.

“Just like I used a Black Sabbath line to announce the launch of Gimme, I’m using one here to signal its end: ‘I’ve Seen the Future and I’ve Left it Behind’ from the song “Supernaut” off Black Sabbath Vol.4 — the first record I ever bought,” wrote founder Tyler Lenane in a statement on April 10. “We’ve taken the journey full circle — we touched the future and now, at least for the moment, are forced to leave it behind. But, I guarantee you, someone will take what we started, expand and fulfill this vision and it’s going to be good for fans, good for artists, and good for an industry struggling to support and serve them.”
