Earlier this year, the stars of stunt/prank show Jackass released the fourth feature film in the series, named Jackass Forever. The movie was surprisingly hardcore compared to its predecessor, and involved some of the crew’s most dangerous and brutal stunts to date. One might think that this was a good cap on these poor assholes’ careers, and they should move on to a life of lying in armchairs after outrunning the Reaper this long…but nope, apparently that’s not enough, as there’s now going to be a new Jackass TV show on Paramount+.
According to Screen Crush, on a new earnings call, Paramount+ revealed that they’ll be creating an entire new series based on the success of the latest film.
As Loudwire points out, a new Jackass series doesn’t necessarily mean that the old guard of the show are going to have to kill themselves on camera. Everyone wants Knoxville, Ehren, Steve-O, Dave England, Chris Pontius, Wee Man, and Preston Lacy to show back up, but Jackass Forever introduced fans to a list of new cast members, including Zach Holmes, Eric Manaka, Jasper Dolphin, Rachel Wolfson, and Sean “Poopies” McInerney. So maybe this new Jackass series will focus more on mixing and matching the two teams together, depending on who has any teeth left.
Here’s the big question: will Bam Margera be rejoining the show? Last month, it was revealed that Bam was trying to have his lawsuit against the franchise and Paramount dismissed, seemingly because he wanted to continue working with the crew. Could it be that the idea of a new series was already being floated, and Bam knew that his only way in was to settle his ongoing proceedings with Knoxville and Co? We have no proof of that, we’re just wondering.
Anyway, we’ll see how far the shopping cart can roll in the coming months, but keep your eyes peeled.
