PJ Morton and JoJo Release New Song ‘My Peace’

R&B

PJ Morton has renewed his creative chemistry with JoJo on his new single “My Peace.”

Applying the blaring horns of Outkast’s popularly sampled track “SpottieOttieDopaliscious,” Morton’s new song presents a positive message of putting necessary safeguards in place to maintain one’s wellbeing.

If that means saying goodbye to certain people, Morton gladly opens the door for any negativity to make its way out.

JoJo echoes Morton’s sentiments, propping herself on a higher pedestal and making room for herself to grow in the right areas.

Mr. Talkbox’s vocoder-fronted backing vocals blend well with the rich instrumentation handled by Morton.

Speaking on “My Peace,” Morton said in a statement, “I wanted to write a song that was a duet and gave two perspectives, but wasn’t necessarily about a relationship. I think after going through so much these last couple of years, many people really got down to what’s truly important. And most realized that nothing is worth their peace.”

“My Peace” is the second time Morton and JoJo have come together on a single centered around his album era. They previously collaborated on their Grammy-winning duet “Say So.”

Morton’s new self-produced track, the follow-up to his 2021 single “Please Don’t Walk Away,” coincides with the recent announcement of his headlining tour of a similar name.

The North American jaunt starts on March 11 in Birmingham, Alabama, and concludes on March 29 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

On April 29, he’ll return to his hometown of New Orleans to play the Jazz & Heritage Festival.

Morton aside, JoJo is gearing up for a world tour supporting her most recent album, trying not to think about it. The LP was among Rated R&B’s Best R&B Albums of 2021
