SZA Releases Visualizer for ‘I Hate U’ Starring LaKeith Stanfield

R&B

SZA has shared a visualizer for her recent single “I Hate U.” It was directed by Jack Begert and stars LaKeith Stanfield.

The visualizer follows Stanfield in a beach parking lot, having a seemingly raised-voiced conversation with a lover in his vintage BMW Turbo.

He gets out of the car and continues to express his side of the story before ending the call. You’ll have to watch the full video to see what happens next.

Last year, SZA’s “I Hate U” officially broke Apple Music’s first-week streaming record for an R&B song by a female artist. As a result, it soared high on several of the platform’s music charts.

“I Hate U” is slated to appear on SZA’s follow-up to her critically-acclaimed 2017 debut Ctrl, which turns five this year. The song is set to impact urban radio stations on Jan. 11.

As SZA stages her big return, she is nominated for five awards at the now-postponed 2022 Grammys

Up for three of the four big awards, including Song and Record of the Year for “Kiss Me More” with Doja Cat and Album of the Year for Planet Her, SZA also netted a nod in the R&B field.

“Good Days,” which LosHendrix co-produced, is nominated for Best R&B Song.
