Video: Alexi Laiho Recording Vocals Weeks Before He Died

Metal

New footage has surfaced of late Children of Bodom mainman Alexi Laiho recording vocals for his new outfit, Bodom After Midnight, just weeks before he died in December 2020.

The videos come via Ykä Järvinen, who directed, edited and produced the music video for “Paint The Sky With Blood.” They were shot during the recording sessions of the EP of the same name, and were filmed in November of 2020.

Alexi died in his home in Helsinki, Finland on December 29, 2020, but his death wasn’t revealed to the world until a few days into 2021. He was only 41 years old. A toxicology report concluded his death was the result of “alcohol-induced degeneration of the liver and pancreas connective tissue” (he also “had a cocktail of painkillers, opioids and insomnia medication in his system”).

His ashes were finally buried in early December, nearly a year after his death, after a delay caused by infighting within his family.
