Vended’s Griffin Taylor Distraught Over Slipknot Comparisons

Metal

Vended vocalist Griffin Taylor has been brought to tears over comparisons between his band and Slipknot, the group fronted by his father, Corey Taylor.

Vended’s line-up also includes Simon Crahan, son of Slipknot’s Shawn “Clown” Crahan, making comparisons between the two bands all but inevitable.

Still, in a new interview with Knotfest.com‘s Ryan J. Downey, the younger Taylor admits that the online chatter can get to him:

“For me, I do see people’s responses to it, and I get a lot of great responses, because I love the crowd. I love the fans because they’ve been there for my dad and they will be there for me and I will not force them to be. But we do get backlash because of the comparison and the similarities.

“But we are different. And there have been times where I’ve read some hate comments on YouTube and I literally went into the bathtub, filled the bathtub up and just immediately started crying. I was just so fucking in a bad place before we got here. And now I’m in a good place because I’m with my friends.”

To date, Vended have released two singles, “Asylum” and “Burn My Misery.” After performing at Slipknot’s online Pulse of the Maggot Fest and Knotfest Iowa, the band recently completed a thirteen-date tour of the United States.
