Summer Walker Covers Erykah Badu’s ‘Bag Lady’ for ‘BBC 1Xtra Live Lounge’

R&B

Summer Walker is hard at work spreading the word about her sophomore album, Still Over It. After two years, the singer-songwriter returns to the BBC 1Xtra Live Lounge to play three songs, including a moody version of Erykah Badu’s “Bag Lady.”

Backed by a live band, Walker, dressed in a pink fuzzy onesie, also performed “Toxic” from her most recent album and offered an updated rendition of “Playing Games,” a now multi-platinum song she did during her 2019 1Xtra debut.

Last week, Walker paid a visit to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon behind Still Over It to sing “Unloyal” live for at-home audiences.

Still Over It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 this tracking week (Nov. 20), selling 166,000 equivalent units. She owns the title for the first woman in five years to have a record open atop of the big albums chart. Solange was the last to do so for her 2016 masterpiece A Seat at the Table

Walker had 18 entries from the new album on the Hot 100 this week, with the highest being for “No Love” featuring SZA. It bowed at No. 13. The album’s lead single, “Ex For A Reason,” featuring JT of City Girls, stormed at No. 33.

Beyond that, Walker shared a cover of Marvin Gaye’s “I Want to Come Home for Christmas” as part of the Amazon Original program.
