Skip Marley and H.E.R.’s ‘Slow Down’ Is Now Certified Gold

R&B

Skip Marley’s breakthrough single “Slow Down” featuring H.E.R. received gold acclaim from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It has sold over 500,000 in equivalent digital sales, making it his first certification from the RIAA.

Marley released the Rykeyz-produced song in November 2019, and, six months later, it rose to the top position on the Billboard Adult R&B Airplay chart. In doing so, the feel-good track logged a historic feat on this chart for the reggae sensation, making him the first Jamaican-born artist to produce this success.

“Slow Down” appears on Marley’s 2020 project Higher Place. On Friday, September 10, Marley will release an expanded edition of Higher Place, which will include two bonus tracks: “Slow Down” (Afrobeat Remix) featuring DaVido and Oxlade, and “Make Me Feel” (Dub Mix) featuring Ari Lennox.

As for H.E.R., she is no stranger to RIAA certifications. The Grammy and Oscar-winning superstar’s debut album Back of My Mind went gold ahead of August’s end. The RIAA news followed her acting debut announcement in the forthcoming musical film, The Color Purple. She will also appear on Stokley’s new album Sankofa, out September 17.
