The writer/producer of a recent movie starring Body Count frontman Ice-T was shot and killed this past Thursday night (August 19) in New York City.

According to The New York Post, Joseph “Taheim” Bryan, age 50, lived in Jackson Heights, Queens. Equal Standard, his action film about racism in the NYPD, was released last May. In addition to Ice-T, it stars Onyx’s Fredro Starr and Treach from Naughty by Nature (who also directed Body Count’s video for “This is Why We Ride”).

Bryan was sitting behind the wheel of his car outside outside a luxury apartment complex in Long Island City when, around 11:15 p.m., a shooter got out of a dark-colored Mazda, fired seven times into the diver’s side of Bryan’s car, and then got back into the Mazda and fled. Bryan was rushed to Manhattan’s Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Reacting to the news, Ice-T shared a photo of himself with Bryan, Mobb Deep’s Havoc, and Equal Standards co-star Tobias Truvillion (Hitch, Brooklyn’s Finest) on social media, along with these words:

“MFs Killed my friend last night.I’m not in a good place behind this.Taheim was a GOOD dude making Positive moves. He wrote & we made the film EqualStandard together. He leaves a Wife&Daughter.Dirty MFs followed him home and Murdered him.”

He later added:

“People ask what makes you Cold… Murder makes you cold, losing friends and family to the streets makes you Cold.. You can’t tell me shit about PTSD. How many of your friends have been Murdered? It changes you.”

MetalSucks‘ thoughts are with Bryan’s loved ones during this tragic time.
