Your Grandparents Announce Debut Album, Share New Song ‘Sunlight’

R&B

DaCosta, Jean Carter and ghettoblasterman — together known as Your Grandparents — shed some light on their debut album. Thru My Window is slated to arrive on July 16 via The Orchard. It will be their first project since their freshman EP Been Cold, released in 2019.

Jointly speaking on the new album, the trio said, “Thru My Window is an alternative commentary on love in early adulthood. Illustrated through the joint perspective of Your Grandparents, the narrative portrays the origins of a budding relationship and its potential complexities.”

To roll out the album announcement, Your Grandparents come out beaming with the new song “Sunlight” and its beautiful supporting video. As for the soulful melodic number, it features vocalist DaCosta and Carter singing about the light of day piercing through the windowpane to accentuate the intimate bonding with their respective lovers. The standout element of the record is the drumming of the song, instantly giving off the feeling of summer in the ‘70s.

“Sunlight” is the latest release from their forthcoming Thru My Window debut. Recent songs “Tomorrow” and “So Damn Fly” will also appear.
