Track Premiere: Thorium – ‘Underground’

Metal

Danish death dealers (try saying that three times fast!) Thorium have been doing their thing for nearly three decades and that’s not about to change if new track “Underground” is an indication. Taken from their sixth album The Bastard, Thorium take heavy cues from early Morbid Angel, mixing it up with their core Scandinavian death metal sound.

On this album, Thorium are joined by ultra-prolific guitarist Rogga Johansson, whose body of work is too vast to easily list. Speaking about working with him on “Underground,” vocalist MHA says:

“When Rogga presented the first draft of this song I immediately went back the mid-’90s and the Morbid Angel Domination album. Love that album and the vocal style of David Vincent in ‘Where The Slime Live.’ So everything felt very natural for me to do the vocal structure and recording for ‘Underground’—and with the killer drums by Thomas Ohlsson and bass by Jesper Nielsen added the supreme production in Angioni Studio, this is one of my favorite songs of the new Thorium album.”

Check it out below. The Bastard is out September 20 on Emanzipation Productions.
