Track Premiere: Obscene – ‘Breathe the Decay’

Metal

Midwest death metal wrecking crew Obscene are back with their third album in four years, Agony & Wounds, next month but you can tuck into the latest choice cut right now.

“Breathe the Decay” is a frantic four-minute romp that jams an impressive amount into its relatively short runtime. Still housing everything in a fast-moving death metal exterior, Obscene sound like they’re pushing the limits of their sound to their logical conclusion by the last minute of the song—the breakneck riffs just keep on coming, drummer Brandon Howe is like a machine and vocalist Kyle Shaw howls like he sees something the rest of us don’t.

Speaking about the track, Obscene had this to say:

“For the second single off our upcoming LP, Agony & Wounds, we’ve picked ‘Breathe The Decay.’ It’s a ripper of a track that’ll make you feel like taking your last breath while having more hooks than a meat locker. Lyrically, it’s about a vagabond wreaking death everywhere they venture a la the Saint of Killers from Preacher; not specifically about him, but he was an inspiration when writing the song. We all breathe the decay in the end.”

Check it out for yourself below. Agony & Wounds is out on July 12 via Nameless Grave.
